The Asian/Asian American Student Experience
During Wildcat Welcome, Asian/Asian American Student Affairs and all of the Asian/Asian American student groups host the annual Asian/Asian American Student Experience for new students (freshmen and transfers). This program offers new students insights into what the college experience is like for Asian and Asian American students at Northwestern. New students are also able to learn about how to get involved in the Asian/Asian American community as well as what opportunities and resources are available to them through our community.

Mentoring Program
The purpose of the Mentoring Program is to facilitate the transition process to life at Northwestern for new Asian and Asian American students. Mentors (upperclassmen) help freshmen and transfer students develop a sense of belonging while also helping them navigate campus and determine what they want to accomplish during their time in college.

Community Service & Projects
Student Group Community Service & Philanthropy
The Asian/Asian American student groups are involved with a wide variety of community service projects and philanthropic endeavors throughout the year, including: volunteering, participating in service trips, fundraising, and organizing events to raise awareness of social issues. More information coming soon.

Asian/Asian American Student Affairs also offers a year-long service project at Asian Youth Services in Chicago.

Holiday Toy Drive
During the last few weeks of fall quarter, Asian/Asian American Student Affairs plans a Holiday Toy Drive to benefit under-privileged children represented by community-based organizations in Chicago.
Asian American Activism 101
Asian American Activism 101 is a pilot program consisting of bi-weekly group discussions as well as opportunities to attend regional and national events. This program is designed to raise awareness of Asian American issues amongst students and empower them to be proactive with learning about and addressing issues.

Asian American Heritage Celebration
More commonly known as Asian American Heritage Month, the Northwestern community acknowledges this nationally recognized month (May) as Asian American Heritage Celebration. Programming for Heritage Celebration, which begins in April and extends through early June, ranges from cultural shows to films to speakers to presentations to discussions to social gatherings. For the Asian/Asian American community at Northwestern, this part of the year is a time to celebrate culture, tradition, and talent.

Asian/Asian American Student Affairs Heritage Award
The Asian/Asian American Student Affairs Heritage Award is awarded to one graduating senior at the Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) Senior Reception during Senior Week (the week of graduation).
Award Inscription:
“The Asian/Asian American Student Affairs Heritage Award is given in recognition of the individual who has demonstrated commitment, dedication, insight, leadership, and perseverance in his/her approach to life through continuous service to and support of the Northwestern Asian/Asian American community.”
