5) Footsteps in Hope
Footsteps in Hope
An awareness/fundraising walk in the spring to engage
the Chicago community in the fight for global health
Want to make a direct impact in Global Health? Interested in strengthening public health care in resource-poor areas?
Become part of a leadership team to work with students and groups at
Northwestern, Loyola Chicago, and DePaul. Raise awareness and build
resources to directly enhance rural clinics and communities in Zimbabwe.
The success of this event will translate directly into: improved HIV testing and treatment in a country where approximately 20% of people are infected; increased awareness, emotional support and peer counseling/discussion in a community that suffers from extreme HIV stigma; free health care for hundreds, or even thousands, of patients who cannot afford it; a strengthened public health system which is crumbling under the worst economic crisis in the world today; income generation projects for a population that faces over 80% unemployment; and the necessary support for orphans and vulnerable children to stay in school.
