5) National Physical Fitness & Sports Month
May is National Physical Fitness & Sports Month
In light of understanding the importance of physical activity, Northwestern University officially recognizes May as National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. Physical inactivity has been linked to many preventable chronic diseases.
The primary goal of the National Physical Fitness and Sports 2008 Celebration is to get as many individuals within the university community to commit to 30 minutes of moderate physical activity at least 3 days each week to help prevent chronic disease and result in healthier, longer lives.
As a result of this celebration, we hope that individuals will be encouraged to develop lifelong habits of regular physical activity.
