Division of Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program

The Division of Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program trains one to two fellows each academic year in the medical specialty of geriatrics. Training sites include Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Warren Barr Pavilion Subacute Nursing Facility, and the Methodist Home on Chicago's north side. Trainees are mentored by geriatrics faculty to understand the complexity of health needs in elderly individuals, to treat patients across the care continuum, and to teach other medical trainees about geriatric concerns.

Geriatric Oncology Fellowship Training Program

The Geriatric Oncology Fellowship Training Program (GOFTP) at Northwestern University was established by the Divisions of Hematology Oncology and Geriatric Medicine four years ago. This collaborative effort received a three-year grant from the American Society of Clinical Oncology / Hartford Foundation. The GOFTP has the goal of developing trainees with the background and skills required to successfully pursue an academic career in Geriatric Oncology, and improve cancer care among older adults. Since 2002, the program has accepted 4 fellows for 3-year training.
