Program of African Studies: Programs and Institutes: CDP

As one of Northwestern’s nineteen research centers, PAS is
well positioned to conduct programs that incorporate knowledge and
skills from a wide range of the University’s departments and
professional schools. This inclusive approach allows the realm of
African Studies to expand beyond its traditional boundaries. Currently,
PAS programs and institutes benefit from the participation of the
School of Law, Kellogg School of Management, Feinberg School of
Medicine, Medill School of Journalism, School of Communications,
as well as the departments of African-American Studies, Anthropology,
Art History, French, History, Philosophy, Performance Studies, Political
Science, Religion, Sociology and several foreign languages. Along
with strong faculty contributions, PAS initiatives benefit greatly
from the involvement of undergraduate and graduate students. In
each of our four program areas, we work closely with African institutions
and strive to ensure that our activities are of benefit to African
societies.
