Northwestern University Event/Program Accessibility Statement

The following statement was approved by the Office of General Counsel on March 3, 2015 and should be used in all event registration forms, fliers, electronic and print communications:

Northwestern University is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for all events and programs. Accommodations such as Sign Language interpreters, accessible seating, and presentation materials in alternate format are provided upon request. Please contact  [insert program/event contact] at [insert program/event contact’s email address] or [insert program/event contact’s phone number] by [insert date*, typically at least one week in advance]. Every reasonable effort will be made to implement accommodations in an effective and timely manner.

*Accommodation requests received after the designated deadline may not be refused. Reasonable efforts should also be made to provide accommodations requested after the deadline.

If food is being served at the event, we recommend replacing the third sample accommodation listed in the above program accessibility statement with “adjustments due to dietary needs.”

If you would instead like to include a concise link to this page or a shorter alternative to the above accessible events statement in your announcements, use http://bit.ly/ANUevents or the following statement:
