Course Material Purchase and Return Policy
STUDENT-ATHLETE BOOK/SUPPLY PURCHASE PROGRAM
Many
scholarship student-athletes have the use of books/course
supplies included in their full or partial athletic
grant. This allows a student-athlete full use of required
textbooks and course supplies only for academic
study at Northwestern University.
The
book/course supply purchase program is administered
jointly through the offices of Compliance and Academic
& Student Services within the Athletics Department.
Each student-athlete is required to complete a STUDENT-ATHLETE
TEXTBOOK PURCHASE ORDER FORM (available from the Compliance
Office) at the beginning of each quarter. Once completed,
the form must be reviewed, stamped and signed by a staff
member of Academic & Student Services. Approval
requires presentation of either a class syllabus or
verification of current class schedule. Any required
textbooks/course supplies that are not available through
Norris must be purchased by the student-athlete and
will be reimbursed by the department.
1.
Book purchase forms may only be used to obtain required
reading material (e.g., textbooks, lab manuals,
novels, etc.) or required course supplies (
e.g., art supplies, goggles, calculators, etc.) THAT
ARE LISTED AS "REQUIRED" ON THE COURSE SYLLABUS.
2.
Reimbursements for materials not available at Norris
(e.g. course packets from copy centers, chem/bio goggles,
art supplies)can be obtained by bringing the purchasing
receipt and an approved book purchase
form for these materials to Norris. Norris will reimburse
the student-athlete ONLY IF the reimbursement is requested
within 10 days of the purchase date on the receipt.
3.
Book purchase forms may not be used to obtain
"recommended" or non-required course materials,
e.g., pens, pencils, notebook paper.
Access to the book/supply purchase program is considered
a privilege. Failure to abide by the regulations
listed herein may result in withholding academic records
or revoking further book/course supply privileges.
Student-athletes are personally charged one-half of
the purchase price for all books/course supplies remaining
in their possession after each quarter at Northwestern.
Any questions regarding the book/course supply program
should be directed to Brittany Hanson in Compliance.
