BEFORE COMING TO CAMPUS

Activate your NU e-mail account and check for messages frequently
Review guidelines in Getting Connected before you buy a computer
Determine if you will ship your computer to campus or bring it with you
Send your Admission Health Record and Insurance Coverage Selection forms
Take placement tests online
Complete the online Essential NU workshop AlcoholEdu
Decide what personal belongings to ship to campus or to bring with you
Chat with your peer adviser

ITEMS YOU SHOULD/CAN BRING ALONG

ITEMS PROHIBITED FROM STUDENT ROOMS

Extra-long twin bed sheets, pillow, pillow cases, comforter, etc. Microwave ovens (including microwave/fridge combo units)
Shower sandals Coffeemakers
Shower caddy Halogen lamps
Toiletries Ironing boards
Adhesive bandages Any appliances for cooking or heating food and/or beverages
Telephone*
Answering machine* Refrigerators larger than 3 cubic feet
Nonhalogen desk lamp or other bright light for reading Lighted candles, incense or holiday lights
Clock radio or alarm clock Hanging blankets or fishnets
Headphones Any device used to "loft" a bed
Calling card (for emergencies) Pets other than fish
Power strip electrical adapter Waterbeds
Laundry bag or hamper, detergent, stain treater, etc. Air conditioning units
Laundry drying rack Explosives, incendiary materials, firearms, martial arts equipment, or weapons of any description, for any purpose
Iron
Quarters for laundry / vending machines

Photo ID (driver's license, state ID card, passport) **
