Core Advising

Freshman student-athletes are assigned a core advisor in the Department of Athletics and Recreation's (NUDAR) Office of Academic Services & Student Development.

In core advising, student-athletes meet with their core advisor a minimum of once each week. In these meetings, the advisor may assist in the following areas:

  • Track academic progress, such as grades received, upcoming assignments and exam preparations.
  • Teach academic strategies, such as time management, note-taking and goal setting.
  • Provide information regarding campus resources.
  • Recommend subject-area tutoring and assist students in requesting a tutor.

Student-athletes primarily meet with their advisor in the Burton Center. Students can also meet with their advisors in our satellite office  on campus (Seabury Hall, Room 233). Each advisor is available at the satellite office one day per week, according to the following schedule:

  • Monday: Mary Beth
  • Tuesday: Michelle
  • Wednesday: Maria
  • Thursday: Davon
