The House

AASA is centrally located on the Evanston Campus at 1914 Sheridan Road. Popularly known as the Black House, our building is a large, converted private home with three floors and a finished basement.

Some students find places to study or hold meetings in the Garvey-Shabazz Reading Room, tutoring/study areas, computer lab, or conference rooms. A typewriter and duplicating machine are also available for use by students. Other students relax and socialize with friends in the basement (featuring a wide-screen television) or lounge and prepare munchies in the kitchenette.

Office Hours

Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm

The House is accessible from 8:30am-12:00 midnight on weekdays. The building is then closed on Saturdays and reopens on Sundays from 4:00pm-12:00 midnight.
