Snow Much Fun

It was nothing like last year's 20-inch "snowpocalypse" that shut down the University, but several inches of snowfall last Thursday gave Northwestern University students the chance to unwind from their Winter Quarter classes with some old-fashioned fun in the snow.

An uncharacteristically balmy start to winter allowed lakefill frolicking normally reserved for April or May. Students played frisbee in sunshine and 50-degree weather last Monday, but the arrival of freezing temperatures and snowstorms at the end of the week allowed for more arctic forms of recreation. The open space of Deering Meadow became a perfect battleground for snowball fights and pick-up football games.
