Faculty, students and staff distinguished through professional and academic accomplishments

John Rudnicki, professor of civil and environmental engineering and mechanical engineering at the McCormick School of Engineering, has received the 2011 Daniel C. Drucker Medal from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. November 22, 2011

Laurie Zoloth, professor of religious studies, has been elected vice president of the American Academy of Religion. She will become president of the organization following her term. November 17, 2011

Galen Bodenhausen, professor of psychology, has been awarded the Carol and Ed Diener Mid-Career Award in Social Psychology by the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. Bodenhausen was recognized for his expertise on “the mental processes underlying social attitudes, impressions, judgments, and decisions, as well as mental illness stigma.” November 17, 2011

• Janet Pierrehumbert, professor of linguistics, was elected a fellow of the Linguistic Society of America (LSA.) Fellows are nominated by LSA members for distinguished contributions to the field and are chosen by a vote of the executive committee. She will be inducted at the LSA Annual Meeting in January 2012. October 21, 2011

• Randall Q. Snurr, professor of chemical and biological engineering, received the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Award for Excellence in Industrial Gases Technology. The award recognizes an individual's sustained excellence in contributing to the advancement of technology in the production, distribution and application of industrial gases. The award is sponsored by Praxair, Inc. October 21, 2011
