The U.S. Constitution is the oldest, shortest written constitution of any major world government? Thomas Jefferson is not among its signers? Benjamin Franklin entered the Constitutional Convention hall in a sedan chair carried by prisoners? The word “democracy” appears only twice in the Constitution?

Created by the U.S. Congress in 2004, Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. The Center for Civic Engagement invites visitors to its website to celebrate the Constitution and legacy through web resources and free online videos.

Visit the Center’s Constitution Day website and take a quiz about the Constitution and the Founding Fathers. And, by the way, as to those true-or-false statements in the second paragraph above, only the last one is false. The word “democracy” doesn’t appear in the Constitution at all.
