Parking Lot West of Allen Center to Close

EVANSTON, Ill. --- The parking lot directly west of the James L. Allen Center will close when a campus utility construction project begins June 20.

Facilities Management will install new underground chilled water and steam piping from the central utility plant to the northeast part of
campus. The utilities will serve existing facilities and future development. The project is planned for completion in 2013.

Due to this construction, the parking lot west of the Allen Center will be closed. Vehicles no longer will be able to access the Allen
Center via the current entrance off Sheridan Road at the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Cars instead will enter campus at Lincoln Street and proceed south on Campus Drive.

Parking for faculty and staff is available on the north side of the Allen Center, and there will be a walkway for pedestrians approaching the building from the south.

The project will be phased, with the initial work occurring directly east of Pancoe NorthShore University HealthSystem Life Sciences Pavilion and Silverman Hall for Molecular Therapeutics and Diagnostics, and also east of the utility plant. The roads in those areas will be closed.

Construction will move north, to the east of Cook Hall, by March 2012.
