Sheridan Road Construction Resumes April 4

Local access route will minimize impact of roadwork; campus shuttles not affected

By Amy Weiss

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Roadwork that began last summer on Sheridan Road will resume April 4. Beginning at Clark Street and moving south to Burnham Place, Sheridan will be closed for southbound traffic.

A detour route for southbound traffic will be set up starting at Sheridan Road and Chicago Avenue and continuing down Chicago to South Boulevard, where it will direct back to Sheridan. A “local access only” lane will allow traffic to continue left on Sheridan to get to South Campus Drive.

Campus shuttle stops and routes will not be affected by the roadwork. The local access route is intended to minimize the impact of the construction for those driving to and from campus.

The City of Evanston expects the project to be completed in August 2011.
