Northwestern University students are making sure struggling Evanston families will have Thanksgiving meals with all the fixings this year.

The Residential College Board and student volunteers spent Sunday afternoon shopping for Thanksgiving goodies and assembling 25 food baskets at their annual Turkey Taxi event.

The baskets were donated to Family Focus Our Place, a non-profit that provides support to Evanston families in need. Students living in the residential colleges fundraised for the event and used funds from their philanthropy budgets to provide the baskets. Each basket includes a gift card for a turkey, canned and fresh vegetables and fruit, dessert mixes, bread, cooking supplies and student-made greeting cards.
