Pearson Named Chief Strategist for Institutional Partnerships

Sarah Pearson will assume the new position of Chief Strategist for Institutional Partnerships on October 1.  As we enter the final year of the University’s strategic planning process, a key component of the strategic plan will be to focus on building inter-institutional partnerships nationally and internationally.  In her new role, Sarah will report to me and will lend her expertise to the analysis of potential partnerships and collaborative programs.

Sarah joined us as Vice President in January of 2003.  During her tenure the Office of Alumni Relations and Development has been energized and reshaped, bringing new and exciting programs to alumni, parents and friends around the world.  Some of the advancements include an expansion of the principal gift program; a revitalization of our reunion program; the creation of the NULC recognition society and its regional councils; the establishment of an office in New York; and improved outcomes in the annual, major and planned giving programs.  Equally important are major infrastructure improvements that continue to enhance support for partners around the campus.   Sarah’s exemplary work with the professional schools teams, with the Deans and Directors, and with volunteers and Trustee leadership, has created a vital platform for sustained growth and future success.

Sarah is nationally recognized as a leader in innovative fundraising, serving as chair of the national Commission on Philanthropy for CASE, where she also serves on the Board of Trustees.  Her contributions will be profiled in an upcoming book highlighting the careers of leaders in the field.

I will announce plans for succession in the coming weeks.  In the meantime, please join me in thanking Sarah for her dedicated leadership.
