June 6 Lurie Cancer Walk

CHICAGO --- The 17th Annual Cancer Survivors' Celebration & Walk will be held Sunday, June 6. The walk is the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University's salute to cancer survivors and the strides made in cancer treatment and research. The celebration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk steps off at 9 a.m. at the corner of Columbus and Balbo Drives in Grant Park.

The four-mile, non-competitive walk along Chicago's lakefront is expected to draw close to 4,000 participants including cancer survivors, family and friends as well as the physicians, scientists and health professionals who support them.

A day of festivities for the family will include an opportunity to sign the Dedication Wall, a picnic, music and entertainment. No pledges are required.  The $15 registration fee includes a t-shirt and refreshments. Registration is $25 on the day of the walk.  

Several cancer survivors with inspiring stories of hope and perseverance are available for on-camera interviews in the days leading to the walk and the day of.
