Public Invited to Chat with Northwestern ALS Experts May 25

CHICAGO -- Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine scientists and doctors will talk in understandable language about their research in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, during a free public symposium and reception beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, in the Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center of Northwestern University, Hughes Auditorium, 303 E. Superior St., Chicago.

At a wine and appetizer reception following the Les Turner 30th Anniversary Symposium, people can personally chat with and ask questions of ALS experts, who will be stationed at tables. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement.

The symposium celebrates the Les Turner ALS Foundation's 30-year partnership with Northwestern University in ALS research and patient care.
