Fasten Your Seatbelts for ScienceRide

EVANSTON, Ill. --- This winter, SafeRide, Northwestern University's after-hours shuttle service, became "ScienceRide," an in-motion science quiz show for unsuspecting students.

Inspired by the popular game show "Cash Cab," the new Web series features undergraduates being quizzed on science trivia while being transported from point A to point B. Depending on how well they answer the five-question quiz, they are rewarded with T-shirts and science-themed prizes.

ScienceRide is the brainchild of Michael Kennedy, director of science outreach and public engagement at Northwestern.

"Our goal is to find a fun way to engage students in conversations about science," quizmaster Kennedy said. "We want students to wear the shirts they win and spread visibility around campus. My hope is to use ScienceRide as a platform for other engaging events and discussions about science."
