EVANSTON, Ill. --- For the sixth consecutive year, the Northwestern University Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music and WFMT-FM 98.7 will broadcast a weekly Sunday afternoon radio series showcasing Northwestern music faculty, ensembles, distinguished alumni and guest artists in performance and conversation.

The "Music From Northwestern" winter 2010 series will air six consecutive hourlong shows each Sunday at 4 p.m. CDT from Jan. 3 through Feb. 7.

WFMT program host and Northwestern University alumnus Kerry Frumkin will host the broadcasts. Richard Van Kleeck, director of concert activities for the Bienen School of Music, is co-producer of the WFMT radio broadcasts along with Jesse McQuarters.

The six programs in the series will feature Northwestern's Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, choral ensembles, Winter Chamber Music Festival performances, Bienen School of Music faculty, and student performances from the May 20, 2009 Conservatory Project concert at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Musical highlights will include works by Wagner, Berg, Beethoven, Mozart, Husa and Maslanka.

In addition to airing on WFMT, the complete six-week series of 2010 programs, as well as those of the previous five seasons, will be available for streaming on demand by visiting the Pick-Staiger Concert Hall Web site's streaming audio page.
