Public Invited to Participate in Oct. 14 Hearing to Set National Women's Research Agenda

CHICAGO --- Members of the public are invited to discuss what they think should be priorities in future women's health research at a national hearing from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.

The hearing will take place in the Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center, 303 E. Superior St., in the Hughes Auditorium. It is being held by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Research on Women's Health. Interested individuals can provide oral or written testimony to a panel of scientists, clinicians and NIH representatives.

The public hearing will be moderated by Andrea Dunaif, M.D., the Charles F. Kettering Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism and chief of the division of endocrinology, metabolism and molecular medicine at the Feinberg School. She also is a physician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
The public hearing is being co-hosted by the Feinberg School and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Registration will be from noon to 1 p.m. followed by a welcome talk by Vivian Pinn, M.D., director of the NIH Office of Research on Women's Health. At 1:15 p.m., the panel of experts will discuss the health needs of underserved populations of women. At 2:15 p.m., the public hearing begins.
