Move-In Day at Northwestern

Freshmen take that all-important first step into college life--moving into their dorm rooms.

By Matt Paolelli

EVANSTON, Ill. --- More than 2,000 new students moved in Sept. 14 as the Class of 2013 takes its place on campus to start the school year.

Freshmen descended on Northwestern University's Evanston campus with an endless stream of boxes, bags and mini-fridges. Parents, incoming freshmen and peer advisers pitched in to get the newest Wildcats settled in their dorm rooms. Wildcat Welcome, a weeklong orientation program, helps new students get acquainted with everything that Northwestern has to offer. The program also includes an a capella concert, a trip to Six Flags Great America and various other social activities.

Returning students and those living off campus are also on their way back to Evanston, as undergraduate classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 22.
