Hours after moving into their dorm rooms, the Northwestern Class of 2013 assembled to participate in a new Wildcat Welcome event--the March through the Arch. Students walked from the Arch at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Sheridan Road to Deering Meadow, where they listened to a speech by Burgwell Howard, interim dean of students. After reciting the Alma Mater, students joined their peer advising groups for their first dinner in the campus dining halls.

Wildcat Welcome activities continue through Monday, Sept. 21, when students will attend a convocation ceremony with President Morton Schapiro. Classes begin on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
