Northwestern Expert: A Variety of Factors Determine a Person's Sex
Bioethicist Alice Dreger discusses the case of track and field champion Caster Semenya

Controversy has arisen at the World Track and Field Championships after the International Association of Athletics Federations called into question the sex of gold medalist Caster Semenya, who identifies herself as female. Alice Dreger, professor of medical humanities and bioethics at Northwestern University, discusses Semenya's case and the many factors that go into determining a person's sex.
