The impending thunderstorm shortened his remarks, but Wynton Marsalis still delivered a powerful message to graduates at Northwestern's 151st Commencement ceremony.

At the conclusion of the speech, Professor Victor Goines, director of jazz studies, joined Marsalis at the podium for a rousing rendition of "The Second Line," a traditional New Orleans tune that is usually played at the end of a concert. Poncho-wearing graduates, professors and trustees rose to their feet and clapped along.
