Young Scientists Gather to Show Off Their Work

Northwestern's School of Education and Social Policy hosted Chicago high school students May 26 for a research project showcase. The students are participants in the Meaningful Science Consortium, of which Northwestern is the lead partner.

During their visit, the students presented their own science projects at the University's annual Undergraduate Research Symposium and then toured campus science laboratories.

Approximately 90 students visited a variety of Northwestern labs where researchers study subjects ranging from alternative fuels and electric cars to high-pressure minerals.

The consortium works with the Chicago Public Schools to improve the quality of high school science instruction and to prepare students for college-level science course work.
