Feinberg Graduates Encouraged to Be Agents of Change

A total of 167 Feinberg School of Medicine students received their diplomas at the school’s graduation convocation May 14 at the Navy Pier Grand Ballroom.

Feinberg School Dean Larry Jameson, M.D., and President Henry S. Bienen conferred the degrees and offered special congratulations to the students who graduated during the school’s sesquicentennial year.

James J. Paparello, M.D., assistant professor of medicine in the division of nephrology, was presented with the 2009 George H. Joost Award for teaching excellence.

Keynote speaker James R. Webster Jr., M.D., class of 1956, encouraged graduates to be agents of change whether solving the problems of the national health care system or affecting the “behavioral choices that account for how long and how well people live.”
