IBNAM To Host Seminar and Tour of Biomedical Cleanroom

EVANSTON, Ill. --- The Institute for BioNanotechnology in Medicine (IBNAM) at Northwestern University will host a special seminar and tour of the new IBNAM cleanroom in the Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center Wednesday, June 3.

The state-of-the-art facility is specifically designed for research at the interface of physical and biological sciences. The cleanroom enables researchers to integrate nanotechnology and microfabrication with chemistry and biology in a highly controlled environment.

The free event is open to the Northwestern research community and will feature presentations by two experts who conduct biomedical research in the cleanroom. The talks will begin at 1 p.m. in the Searle Seminar Room, located on the first floor of the Lurie Center, 303 E. Superior St.

Chang Liu, professor in the departments of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering and computer science, will present “Micromachining Technology and Applications in Medical Sensors.” Josh Goldberger, postdoctoral fellow in the department of chemistry, will present “IBNAM Cleanroom Core: Microfabrication for the Biomedical Sciences.”

Following the seminar, visitors are invited to tour the cleanroom during an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. The cleanroom is located in room 11-228 of the Lurie Center. Refreshments will be served in the IBNAM main office, room 11-131.
