Financial Specialist to Address College Students on Economy

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Financial specialist and best-selling author Beth Kobliner will give a talk April 20 at Northwestern University on "Financial Planning in a Tough Economy for Today's College Student."

The event will be held at 5 p.m. in room G15 of Annenberg Hall, 2120 Campus Drive, Evanston. It is open to the Northwestern community and the public. It is sponsored by University Career Services.

Her talk will focus on personal finance strategies for college students in a tough economy.

According to Kobliner, people in their 20s and 30s, perhaps more than any other group, are overwhelmed by the financial crisis around them. Kobliner will share strategies to help college students, ranging from establishing credit and managing student loan debt to tax saving and home buying tips.

Kobliner's book, "Get a Financial Life: Personal Finance in Your Twenties and Thirties," has been on The New York Times and USA Today best-seller lists. The book is a guide that decodes financial mysteries and teaches young adults tricks for mastering their money. The best seller covers banking, investing, taxes, insurance, and debt and housing issues.

A former staff writer at Money magazine, Kobliner is also a regular guest on television and radio shows, has appeared on Oprah, ABC, CBS, CNN, NPR, PBS and NBC's Today show and has spoken and written on financial issues for 15 years.
