Association of Northwestern University Women Celebrate 20 Years

By Judy Moore
EVANSTON, Ill. --- In celebration of its 20th year, the Association of Northwestern University Women (ANUW) has scheduled a variety of events, including a 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 workshop for women on speaking clearly and presenting information effectively.

The "SPEAK UP! A Woman's Guide to Presenting like a Pro" workshop will be conducted by Northwestern School of Communication alumna Cyndi Maxey, owner of Maxey Creative Inc. and co-author with Kevin E. O'Connor of a new book with the same title that is scheduled for release Nov. 11. The workshop will be held at the John Evans Alumni Center, 1800 Sheridan Road, on the Evanston campus. A book signing will follow. (For more information on Maxey and O'Connor's book "SPEAK UP! A Woman's Guide to Presenting Like a Pro" (St. Martin's Press, N.Y.), visit http://store.cyndimaxey.com.)

The Nov. 20 workshop is free and open to ANUW members only. However, individuals are welcome to join ANUW at the event. The cost of membership is $10 and is good for the entire fiscal year (Sept. 1, 2008 through Aug. 31, 2009).

ANUW was founded in 1988 by a group of women in senior administration committed to enhancing the career development of women at Northwestern. The group's current interests include building networks for the exchange of information, fostering a sense of community and serving as role models and mentors for other women.
