CHICAGO --- A free screening of "At the Death House Door," a new documentary that raises serious doubts about an execution in Texas through the perspectives of a death house chaplain and two Chicago Tribune investigative reporters, followed by a panel discussion, will take place Wednesday, May 28, at Northwestern University School of Law.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the event, co-sponsored by Northwestern's Center on Wrongful Convictions; and the screening will take place at 7 p.m. at Northwestern University School of Law's Thorne Auditorium, 375 E. Chicago Ave.

(Seating is limited; to reserve a seat, email cwc@law.northwestern.edu.)

The panelists include prison chaplain Carroll Pickett; Chicago Tribune reporter Steve Mills; and documentary filmmakers, Steve James and Peter Gilbert ("Hoop Dreams").

The documentary focuses on the investigative reporting of Chicago Tribune reporters Mills and Maurice Possley in the case of Carlos De Luna, who was executed in Texas, and Rev. Pickett, who counseled De Luna and now feels sure of his innocence.

Besides the Center on Wrongful Convictions, part of Northwestern University School of Law's Bluhm Legal Clinic, co-sponsors of the event include the ACLU, the ACLU of Illinois, Kartemquin Films, Public Square and the Chicago Tribune Foundation.
