'Domestic Sunshine' at Dittmar Gallery Through May 11

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Chicago artists Brandy Pudzis and Marcy Sperry tell intimate and complex stories and raise uncomfortable but vital questions about our world through their art.

Their pieces, featuring a juxtaposition of domestic needlework and cultural meanings, as well as a prominence of blood, apples and decapitation examine the boundaries for morality and self-expression.

Their works are jointly showcased in the Northwestern University Dittmar Memorial Gallery's "Domestic Sunshine" exhibition through May 11. The gallery is located on the first floor of Norris University Center, 1999 Campus Drive, on the University's Evanston campus. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Both Pudzis and Sperry explore a wide variety of themes through their craft from isolation to fetishes of body parts, which invite viewers to reflect on social interaction, societal expectations and ideals, and the disparate consumer culture of America.

The Dittmar Memorial Gallery is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Admission is free.
