Telephone Answering Services to be Eliminated

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Information Technology (IT), which has provided fee-based telephone answering services for many years, has decided to eliminate the service, effective April 11.

The decision follows an extensive review of telephone answering call volume statistics, revenue projections, and the service marketplace.

Information Technology will continue to answer the University's main telephone number 24 hours a day, seven days a week, using a combination of staff and technological resources. Staff will answer the main telephone number from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Calls during other hours will be handled by an automated speech attendant system.

IT has provided its current customers, the majority of whom are physicians and physician practices, with a list of alternative answering services in the Chicago area.
