Oliver Knussen to Present Two Public Sessions Feb. 12 and 14

EVANSTON, Ill. --- World renowned Scottish-born composer and conductor Oliver Knussen, the 2006 winner of Northwestern University's Michael Ludwig Nemmers Prize in Musical Composition, will work with School of Music student composers on their new works during two public sessions.

The sessions will take place at noon, Tuesday, Feb. 12, and Thursday, Feb. 14, in Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, 50 Arts Circle Drive, on the University's Evanston campus. Both sessions are free and open to the public. Tickets will not be required.

Assisting Knussen will be the University's Contemporary Music Ensemble that will perform the student works. The ensemble will be directed by faculty member Ryan Nelson.

Knussen's visit to the University's Evanston campus is part of his weeklong residency at the School of Music.

The rescheduled noon-time sessions were originally scheduled to take place on Jan. 22 and 24.
