Weekly Music From Northwestern Broadcasts to Air on WFMT (98.7)


For the third consecutive year, WFMT (98.7 FM) will broadcast a weekly Sunday afternoon radio series showcasing Northwestern University School of Music faculty, ensembles, distinguished alumni and guest artists in performance and conversation.

EVANSTON, Ill. --- For the third consecutive year, WFMT (98.7 FM) will broadcast a weekly Sunday afternoon radio series showcasing Northwestern University School of Music faculty, ensembles, distinguished alumni and guest artists in performance and conversation.

The Winter 2007 radio programming begins at 4 p.m. Jan. 7 and continues through Feb. 11. Each hour-long “Music From Northwestern” broadcast will feature commercial or archival recordings from Northwestern music venues or from various performance halls around the world.

Richard Van Kleeck, director of concert activities for the School of Music, is co-producer of the Winter 2007 WFMT radio broadcasts with Jesse McQuarters. WFMT program host Kerry Frumkin, a Northwestern alumnus, will once again host the broadcast series.

The Jan. 7 program will feature a sampler of music from Northwestern with comments by School of Music Dean Toni-Marie Montgomery.

Jan. 14 will be devoted to music from Northwestern's Orchestral Program, including recordings of the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra conducted by faculty member Victor Yampolsky.

The Jan. 21 broadcast will focus on opera and voice with comments by music faculty members including Noel Koran, director of the University's Opera Program.

Jan. 28 will feature performances by distinguished members of the Northwestern University School of Music faculty.

The Feb. 3 program will spotlight music from past and future Spring Festival performers with commentary by Van Kleeck.

The Feb. 10 Season Finale will be a diverse program of School of Music performance highlights.
