More Residence Hall Rooms to Be for Upperclassmen, Singles

Four residence halls - Goodrich House, Lindgren Hall, Foster House and 584 Lincoln -- will have single-occupancy rooms and be available only for upperclassmen next fall.

Single-occupancy rooms in Foster-Walker Complex will be available only for upperclassmen.

The changes are designed to make more single rooms available to upperclassmen, the type of accommodation preferred by many sophomores, juniors and seniors, said Garth Miller, director of housing and food services.

Goodrich House will also be converted from female-only to co-ed by floor. Goodrich, at 2321 Sheridan Road, will house 37 students.

Double rooms in Lindgren Hall, 2309 Sheridan Road, will be converted to single rooms, housing 37 men and women on separate floors.

The double room in Foster House, 2253 Sheridan Road, will be converted to singles for the 47 men who live in that residence hall.

The 584 Lincoln residence, co-ed by floor for 21 students, will also have doubles converted to single occupancy.

Foster-Walker will still have rooms available for freshman students in its Healthy Living Unit and Interfaith Living-Learning Unit, both 20-unit sections in the building at 1927 Orrington Ave. The residence hall houses 572 men and women in 560 single and four triple rooms, arranged in clusters on each floor.
