Opera Season Closes With 'Cosi fan tutte'

By Judy Moore

EVANSTON, Ill. ---  Northwestern University's 2005-06 opera season will conclude with two performances of Mozart's amusing take on the theme of fiancée-swapping, “Così fan tutte.”

Directed by Noel Koran and conducted by Robert G. Hasty, “Così fan tutte” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 20, and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at Cahn Auditorium, 600 Emerson St., on the University's Evanston campus.

Considered risqué in the 19th and 20th centuries, “Così” is a comedic story of two young Italian men who disguise themselves to test the fidelity of their lovers. The production will be sung in Italian with English supertitles.

Opera tickets are $20 for the general public; $16.50 for senior citizens and Northwestern faculty and staff; and $5.50 for students.

To purchase tickets or for more information, call the Pick-Staiger Box Office at (847) 467-4000 or visit the Pick-Staiger Web site at www.pickstaiger.com.
