By Judy Moore

EVANSTON, Ill. --- School of Music series “Music from Northwestern” has resumed broadcasting on WFMT-FM.

The weekly series that began Oct. 2 airs on consecutive Sundays at 4:30 p.m. and concludes Nov. 6.

Comprised of six one-hour programs, the series is co-produced by Richard Van Kleeck, director of Concert Activities for Northwestern’s School of Music and WFMT’s Kerry Frumpkin, who serves as the radio show’s host.

The series will feature School of Music ensembles, faculty, students, as well as guest artists.

Highlights include a performance of John Adams’ “Gnarly Buttons,” with the composer conducting the contemporary music ensemble; excerpts from the spring 2005 Rite of Strings Festival including Saint-Saens “The Swan” with 65 cellos and five harps; and Bach’s Concert for Three Violins featuring string faculty members -- violinists Gerardo Ribeiro and Blair Milton and violist and violinist Roland Vamos. Also featured are performances by two new Northwestern faculty members – clarinetist Steve Cohen and double bassist DaXun Zhang.
