Presidential Author, Professor to Give Crain Lecture

Eric Alterman, author of “When Presidents Lie: A History of Official Deception and Its Consequences,” and Northwestern Professor Lee Huebner, former speechwriter for President Nixon, will speak about “The Presidency Then and Now” at the winter Crain Lecture Series Monday, Feb. 21.

The admission-free, public lectures presented by the Medill School of Journalism bring newsmakers and news analysts to the Evanston campus to explore a variety of perspectives on media and current events. The lectures take place at 4 p.m. at McCormick Tribune Center Forum.

The final winter lecture will be Monday, Feb. 28. Former National Organization for Women president and attorney Karen DeCrow; syndicated columnist Georgie Anne Geyer; Northwestern student newspaper editor-in-chief Elaine Helm; and former Chicago Reporter editor and DePaul University journalism professor Laura Washington will discuss “Feminist or Feminazi? Coverage of the Women’s Movement.” DeCrow, Geyer and Washington are Medill alumni. Helm is a current Medill student.
