Weinberg Student Is Goldman Sachs Global Leader

Noora Lori, a Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences junior, was one of only 100 worldwide 2004 Goldman Sachs Global Leaders in the summer.

She joined an elite group of 50 Global Leaders from July 10-16 in New York City to participate in the Goldman Sachs Global Leadership Institute, a “Davos” summit for second-year college students from around the world. They addressed global issues and honed their leadership skills in a weeklong curriculum designed to help them with the challenges of leadership in a multicultural, globally interconnected world.

The Global Leaders also attended a luncheon at the United Nations with UN Deputy Secretary-General Louise Frêchette. They also attended workshops and lectures by key leaders from the public, civic and private sectors.

Lori earned a place in the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program by demonstrating academic excellence and a commitment to thinking globally in order to address many of the world’s current and future challenges.

The Leadership Institute is an annual feature of the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program, now in its fourth year, which was created by The Goldman Sachs Foundation in partnership with the Institute of International Education, the leading not-for-profit international educational and professional exchange organization.

Global Leaders have gone on to win Truman, Marshall, Gates, Fulbright, and Rhodes Scholarships and launch innovative organizations that address pressing social issues, such as AIDS, malaria prevention, and primary school education, with seed grants available through the program.
